The Trieste Terminal Passeggeri S.p.A was founded on 11 April 2007 by the Port Authority of Trieste which subscribed the entire capital of €750,000.00.

The company was born according to article 23 comma 5 of law number 84 of 28 January 1994 which foresees the ability of the Port Authority to promote the organization of the company in pursuance of services of general interest, as was specified from the decree of the Minister for Transport and Navigation of the 14 November 1994, art. 1, letter E, 'Management of maritime stations and passenger support services'.

Trieste Terminal Passeggeri S.p.A. supplies and develops onerously the service of general interest relative to the running of the Maritime Station and passenger support services (handling of embarking/disembarking of cruise passengers, mega yachts and yachts including additional services, for example ISPS International Ships and Port Facilities Security Code, hold baggage control, hand luggage checks, preparation of the quay, luggage movement, use of available space for commercial uses both directly and in outsourcing to entrust the management of services such as restaurants, bars, shops, baggage deposits etc.).

Public tender procedures are under way in order to relinquish the majority of shares participation as foreseen by law art. 23 of law n. 84/94.

In addition the Trieste Terminal Passeggeri S.p.A is a majority shareholder in the Trieste Yacht Service S.r.l established for the development of traffic and implementation of all activities, assistance services and logistics connected to the traffic sector of mega yachts. The Trieste Terminal Passeggeri S.p.A manages, with a twenty five year concession which commenced on the 1st of January 2008, the Cruise Terminal located on Molo Bersaglieri which is situated close to the very central Piazza Unita d'Italia, the Passenger Terminal at Molo IV, the ferry Terminal berth 57 in Porto Nuovo and berth 22 in Porto Vecchio. In addition the company has concession to the parking at Molo IV along the waterfront in Trieste.
